Year 2 Trip (Clitheroe Castle)

Today, Year 2 enjoyed an exciting trip at Clitheroe Castle. Andrew, Racheal and Jane expertly took us over 500 years into the past when Lords, Ladies and Knights ruled our land. We toured around Clitheroe's Mot and Bailey Castle, travelled through the keep and braved the cold and the wind as we walked along its curtain wall. After that, we used our team skills to build our own castles. We used new vocabulary and presented our castles back to the class with a little presentation. Mr Broadbent and Mrs Crossley were amazed with the results.(Have a look at our photos below) Finally, before lunch we were taught the meaning of the images and symbols on shields and coats of arms. We had to find different ways of forming two armies and reason how we came to that decision. Even though it was cold, everyone enjoyed themselves and came back to school with new knowledge and a better understanding of castles.
