As 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the declaration of World War I, The Ferns launched the Autumn term with this as a whole school theme.
On Wednesday 3rd September, Past Productions visited school to perform their show about WW1.
Throughout the week, each year group studied a text that was set in or based around The Great War then produced several pieces of display writing in a range of genres. Texts included, The Silver Donkey, Where The Poppies Grow and War Horse.
As poppies are the traditional symbol of remembrance, many year groups also used this as a stimulus for some dramatic and eye - catching pieces of art. The whole week was a thought provoking and poignant experience for The Ferns; big and small!
